The Farmers Market is pleased to welcome Sellers Auto Group as a sponsor for this season.
Sellers’ story of involvement with the Farmington area goes way back. In 1978, original owner Bob Sellers moved his Pontiac dealership from Redford to the corner of Grand River and 10 Mile in Farmington Hills. He added the GMC franchise in 1982, and the company acquired Buick in 2006.
Sam Slaughter, who worked his way from a porter to the general manager of Sellers Buick GMC, purchased the business from Bob in 2006. As the company says on its website: “Sam's relentless commitment to excellence has continued the growth of our dealership and auto group. We have one goal: to create the absolute best customer experience in every one of our departments.”
Sellers currently has three locations: Sellers Buick GMC in Farmington Hills, Sellers Subaru in Macomb and Sellers Commercial also in Farmington Hills. The company’s Buick dealership has been name Michigan’s Buick Dealer of the year in 2018, ’19, ’20 and ’22, and U.S. Buick Dealer of the Year in 2018.
The dealership will bring a special vehicle to the Market six times this season, beginning June 11. Says Andrew Haller, president of the Sellers Auto Group, “We’re looking forward to a great summer with the Farmers Market as a partner!”
We couldn't do it without our sponsors

The necessary resources for planning, staging, operating, maintaining and administering the Farmington Farmers Market requires significant financial contributions. Yes, contributions. It’s important to note that the market receives zero tax dollars for it's operation, which means that sponsorships are valued, appreciated and put to good use.
The Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market is appreciative and fortunate to have upwards of 12 sponsors whom we roundly consider as fellow "community caretakers.” In short, if not sponsorship, the Market here would be much less than it is today. In fact, without sponsors, it’s possible to muse that there would not be a market in Downtown Farmington at all!
We don’t spend much time thinking about dire prospects, as strong sponsor support has been a hallmark of the Market for the past 10 years. During this time we have blossomed. Together with our sponsors, we are partners who become caretakers and stakeholders. Sponsorship clearly demonstrates awareness and support for what the community cares about. Sponsorship also provides for joining forces to reach a common goal of promoting Downtown Farmington as a destination of choice.
We think we are putting our sponsor support to good use and demonstrating the powerful attraction of community real time by being selected as metro Detroit's BEST farmers market for the past five years — 2017 to 2021! And with the help and support of our new sponsors, we look forward to a banner year ahead as we topped the attendance mark of 100,000 in annual attendance for the first time ever in 2021, a number that quite frankly did not seem possible — ever.
Being essential during the pandemic, operating with care and safety, providing direct access to fresh, locally grown Michigan farm produce has helped make a big difference for many thousands as we strive toward a balanced platform of fitness, wellness and nutrition. And we try to make it fun, festive and vibrant when we say, “Come to Market — for the health of it!”
It is with great pleasure, pride and an honor, therefore, to welcome three new sponsors to our roundtable of community caretakers:
